Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr
The Mülheim Art Museum, which originated in 1909 from the private collection of the Mülheim-born Robert Rheinen, lay its main focus on modern art as early as the 1920’s.
Artists affiliated to Mülheim, for example Otto Pankok, Arthur Kaufmann and the Bauhaus pupil Werner Gilles, whose extensive works are part of the collection, were especially well-supported. Together with paintings by Max Beckmann, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Franz Marc, they form the museum’s core stock today. The extensive collection of paper works and international graphic series contribute to the special profile of the museum.
