The Zollverein World Heritage Site is now the best known industrial monument
in the Ruhr Area, and is the centre point of its creativity-based economy.
The Flottmann-Hallen has been a centre for theatre, music and fine arts since 1986. The listed halls, which were built in 1908, are an architectural rarity in North Rhine-Westphalia with their mixture of art nouveau elements and new objectivity.
The main focal points of the temporary exhibitions at this former industrial location are room-specific projects, which often only evolve on location and for the location. As a result, a very open interaction with artistic ideas and risky experiments is promoted.
