LWL-Industriemuseum Henrichshütte Ironworks Hattingen
For 150 years sparks flew when the last blast furnaces at Henrichshütte Ironworks Hattingen spewed out the molten iron. However, the fire was extinguished in 1987.
Nowadays we bring the history of iron and steel to life at this unique original setting. Over 10,000 people once worked here on the gigantic industrial site. You can get acquainted with their workplaces on our museum trails. Why not take the glass lift to the top of the oldest maintained blast furnace in the region, visit our replica foundry, discover the works by torchlight, explore the “Weg der Ratte” (“the rat’s path”) together with children or take in a concert in the blower house.
