Emil Schumacher Museum

One of the most important museums of modern and contemporary art in the Ruhr Area is the Emil Schumacher Museum in Hagen. For cultural visitors, this is a highlight of their city break to the Ruhr metropolis.

Together with the renovated Osthaus Museum, this makes up the new art district of Hagen, and brings a new shine to Hagen's art and culture scene. Emil Schumacher (1912-1999) is one of the most important artists of the late 20th century, and the presentation of his work contributed to Capital of Culture Ruhr.2010. His dynamic method of working is readily identifiable, and makes a visit well worthwhile.
