It explains the history of the city of Duisburg, and its development from the middle ages to the present, and is an interesting attraction in the Ruhr Area, not just for history enthusiasts.

Centre stage is taken by the permanent exhibitions "The history of the city of Duisburg from medieval town to industrial metropolis" and the "Coin and antique collection of Köhler-Osbahr". The Mercator treasure chamber, with the globes and atlases that belonged to the famous cartographer.
