Bergkamen

Bergkamen is a "green" town and with several nature reserves, the "Grosses Holz" slagheap and numerous waterways, the town is an ideal destination in the Ruhr Area for excursions into nature.

Bergkamen possesses a true highlight when it comes to water tourism in the form of the Westphalian Rünthe Marina Sport Boat Centre. The location next to the River Lippe, River Seseke and the Datteln Hamm Canal provides sport boat captains with an ideal cruising area in the Ruhr Area. The large harbour festival is one of the most important water sport events in the Ruhr Area.

A visit to the Bergkamen Town Museum provides visitors with exciting insights into the history of the town that stretches back to the ancient Romans. In addition to the Roman Section in the museum, the Roman history of the town can also really be experienced with a visit to the archaeological excavation of the Oberaden Roman camp".
