The reservoir which was completed in 1933 as Essen's recreation area offers many leisure and sports facilites. The fully developed circular path around the sea offers bikers, skaters and pedestrians a lot of space. On the water many canoeists as well as sailers and rowers can be seen. The White Fleet invites you for a tour on the reservoir and numerous restaurants indulge you with snacks. A highlight, especially for younger people, is the Seaside Beach Club.
