Zeche Knirps
Knirps colliery is one of the highlights of a family holiday in the Ruhr area. It is part of Hannover colliery, which is an industrial monument, and a special attraction for children. Here the little ones can re-enact Granddad's tales in a children's mine. There is also a genuine miner's uniform, before they start with the "hard graft".
Hannover colliery was constructed as early as 1857 and was used for coal production until its decommissioning in 1973. Of the representative twin shaft system, only a Malakow Tower and the machine building have been preserved as industrial monuments. As a particular highlight the children's mine "Knirps colliery" brings a smile to children's faces.
