The 230 km long Ruhr Valley Cycle Route follows the River Ruhr from its source in Sauerland to where it flows into the River Rhine in Duisburg. The cycle tour has been distinguished by the ADFC (German Cyclists' Federation) as a "4 star quality cycle route," which combines nature and culture and invites you to explore the Ruhr Area.
The cycle tour lasts between three to five days along the Ruhr river. The countryside is captivating with its peace and tranquillity and the amazing diversity and wealth of experiences on offer.
Along the route there are lots of places of interest, consequently there are numerous possibilities on offer to combine a cycling tour with visits to museums, industrial heritage sites, palaces, or take in musicals or some shopping.
The accessibility of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route is ideal for cyclists: the start and destination can be easily reached both by car and by rail. The route is clearly signposted throughout.
